Tsai Laboratory
Our laboratory seeks to advance diagnostic hematopathology using next generation immunophenotyping. This work combines: 1. practical experience clinically diagnosing human tissue, 2. operational knowledge of mass cytometry/cytometry by time-of-flight (CyTOF) and multiplexed ion beam imaging (MIBI), and 3. fundamental discoveries in the biology of dysplasia/neoplasia. Combining this with an understanding of clinical laboratory testing, we aim to bring these techniques into routine clinical diagnostics.
Our current focus is myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) — an especially complex and heterogeneous disease of abnormal blood cell development with increasing prevalence and few treatments, which particularly benefits from single cell approaches.
